D557 · Profiled Steel Tube Series
D557 Steel Desk & Workstation Frame
D557 is a fixed-height steel frame system for office desks and workstations. Its distinctive profiled steel legs give the frame a clearly defined outline and a consistent, recognisable design across different desk and workstation configurations.
A Distinctive Outline, Defined by the Leg Profile
D557’s distinctive appearance comes primarily from the cross-sectional profile of its steel legs. Close-up views of the legs and tube sections show the distinctive profile and how it differs from conventional rectangular and square steel tubing.

Main Frame Components
The D557 frame consists of profiled steel legs, upper beams and cross beams. Together, these components form the complete frame system. The full-frame view shows the main components and their positions within the frame. Component dimensions, tube specifications and connection details are covered in the next section.
D557 Frame Components & Tube Specifications
The D557 frame comprises four main component types: profiled steel legs, upper beams, cross beams and wire risers. Each has a different structural form and function. The sections below explain their tube specifications, connections and roles within the frame.

Profiled Steel Legs
The legs are made from profiled steel tubing with cross-sectional dimensions of 57 × 57 mm and a standard wall thickness of 1.8 mm.
Upper Beams
The upper beams use profiled steel tubing with the same outer profile as the legs, specified at 57 × 57 × 1.8 mm.
Although the upper beams and legs share the same cross-sectional dimensions, their wall thicknesses differ. The upper beams are a key part of the connection between the cross beams and the leg assemblies on either side, and carry structural loads within the frame. In our manufacturing experience, using a thicker tube wall helps strengthen the connection area and improve overall frame stability.

Cross Beams
The cross beams use steel tubing specified at 50 × 25 × 1.2 mm. Die-cast connectors secure the cross beams to the leg assemblies on either side. Together, the cross beams, upper beams and legs form the complete frame structure.
Wire Riser
The wire riser is typically positioned centrally between the two leg assemblies and serves two functions: structural support and cable management.
It can act as an intermediate frame support and provide a vertical cable route from the floor to the desktop. Power and data cables can run up through its interior, reducing exposed cabling.
Compare D557 Leg Styles
D557 Leg Styles: U-Shape, Loop & Slant
D557 is available in three leg styles: U-Shape, Loop and Slant. Each has a distinct outline, allowing you to select a style that suits your office interior and project requirements. The three styles are shown below for a side-by-side comparison.

U-Shape
The U-Shape leg has a simple geometric outline and a clean, orderly appearance. In our sales and project experience, it is currently one of the more popular leg styles on the market.

Loop
The Loop leg has a continuous loop-shaped frame, giving it a different visual character from the U-Shape.

Profiled Slant
The Slant leg is angled at 98° to the upper beam, creating a different outline from the U-Shape and Loop styles.
D557 Slant is made from profiled steel tubing and differs in construction from the formed-steel slant legs used in the UNO and Yoda series.

D557 Desk & Workstation Configurations
D557 can be used for individual desks, manager and executive desks, meeting tables and multi-user workstations. Each configuration has its own arrangement of legs, beams, supports and cable routing.

Single Desk
A standalone D557 frame for an individual desk.

L-Shaped Workstations
An L-shaped layout combining a main desk with a side return.

Meeting Table
Support & Cable Routing Across Configurations
Support positions and cable routes vary with the workstation layout. The 120° workstation uses a different wire riser configuration from the other layouts.

D557 Project Fit & Interface Checks
For D557 projects outside the standard size range or with special configuration requirements, check the frame structure, mounting positions, clearances and accessory compatibility in advance to avoid installation and usability issues.

Tabletop & Mounting
Check whether beam positions obstruct desk screen mounting or conflict with desktop cable box locations, and whether they could complicate installation or use.

Support Positions & Clearance
Check for clashes between the frame, suspended CPU holders and mobile pedestals. Allow sufficient clearance for installation and use. Pay particular attention to beams obstructing pedestal placement and cable routes encroaching on legroom.

Floor Conditions & Stability
Floor conditions, assembly methods and the complete frame configuration all affect stability. Custom structures that cannot accommodate standard leveling feet require an alternative leveling method. Assess frame stability and tipping risk under unintended loads, including off-centre loading caused by someone sitting on the desktop.
